Halloween 2012

We started the Halloween season with our traditional Jack-o-lantern carving.  Kaiden liked the way it smelled.  :)

He was a great helper this year getting all the "icky" stuff out.

The boys working hard.

Mailee was content to chill with me and eat some crackers!

After we cleaned them out, it was time to draw a face.

Mailee of course wanted to do it "TOO" as soon as Kaiden started working on his.   She enjoyed it, but refused to leave my lap (which made picture taking a bit of a challenge)

Mailee's finished product.

Kaiden with his finished product showing us the face his pumpkin is making.

Look at that awesome smile.

Working on the carving.

Kaiden's by night

Mailee's by night (this would be Lichar's interpretation of Mailee's drawing)

Here is Mailee's ladybug costume that I will probably always tell her she got to dress in.  And in all fairness, she did wear it to school on Halloween. (and I wish I had a better photo of her wearing it!)

A little story about how costumes were chosen this year....
When I first told Kaiden that Halloween was approaching, he got SUPER excited and was dancing all around and was such a chatter box!  I asked him what he wanted to dress up as and he said, "A penguin!" without hesitation.  When I asked about Mailee, he decided that she should be a bunny.  So a week or so later we took him to the costume store.  He LOVED it there.  He saw several costumes that interested him--Spiderman, Iron man, Batman.   But the one that stuck:  Anakin.  He had assigned us all characters.  Mommy was supposed to be Princess Leia, Daddy was supposed to be a Clone Trooper and Mailee R2D2.  Due to limited options and fun costumes for Daddy that we were able to borrow, here is what we ended up wearing.  (Kaiden approved all changes)

Our Anakin couldn't have been happier.

I think he would have been happy to skip trick-or-treating and just play light sabers with Darth all night.

Mailee discovering her hat.  "Hat!  Hat!!"

Our floppy eared Yoda.

LOVE him!

This one cracks me up. Just a little scene reenactment here.

Could she BE any cuter?

Anakin decided to try on Vader's mask.  Super cute.

We had a good time trick-or-treating, but I think by far the most fun was here playing light sabers.
Happy Halloween!!!!
