K's first Christmas

Our house all "Christmas-ed" up.

Kaiden had a wonderful first Christmas.   He loved playing with the Christmas tree.

 

He loved playing with the "BALLS" on the tree.  He still really loves balls!

  

He was always very careful with them and even tried to put them back on the tree.

  

 

I tried and tried to get a cute shot of him in the Santa hat, but he wanted nothing to do with that. 

We spent the holiday in Amarillo.   Kaiden quickly found a tree there that he liked to play with too.  He loved to take out the ornaments and put them back in.  He was always very gentle with this tree as well.

K had a good time playing in my old rocking chair. 

Even though he usually preferred to sit in it backwards like this!  Since he climbed in this way, he usually just stayed that way.

Gigi and Poppy's house was full of fun toys.

We also had a visit from my Uncle's dog, Perro.  Perro makes 10 lb Doogie look huge.

Perro really enjoyed playing with Kaiden.  It was fun to watch them play--sometimes K would be crawling along with Perro attached to his arm or leg and K didn't even notice.

"What is this little thing doing?  Can you get it off please?" 

We even got all the Ham brothers together for a pre-Christmas dinner.  Pete, Dale and Dad.

Kaiden also got to help Poppy make his famous apple pies.

He was a great helper!

And after all that work, he needed his routine nap with Poppy.

It snowed on Christmas eve, so Kaiden got to see some more snow.  Unfortunately the day after the snow, the wind was also blowing 40 mph, so we didn't even get to play in it.  (Mommy was very disappointed!)

Even worse than not getting to play in the snow was the fact that it prevented Tante Ash and Uncle Kalum from making it to Amarillo with us.  We were all very bummed.  (but fortunately they didn't get stranded anywhere like most of the holiday travelers.)

We discovered that K really likes candy canes.  Every time Lichar went to get one, K would insist on "sharing" with him.

 

I thought I'd give the cute "Santa hat in front of the tree" photo op with Kai another try.  I was hoping that a new place and lots of extra hands would make that perfect shot possible.  Here are the results:

Ok, no Santa hat, but maybe he will sit next to the cute penguin??  Uhhh, think again.

But he finally warmed up to the penguin and we got some smiles.

We finally got this shot.  Lichar literally dropped the hat on his head and I snapped the shot just as it hit.  Good thing, because less than a second later the hat was off again!

He thought opening presents was really cool!

He enjoyed sitting in his new chair.

 

Kai had a great time playing with Gmom.

and GranSan.

He even got to Skype with Oma, Tante Lil and Robin. 

We put the computer in his new shopping cart and he took Oma, Lil and Robin all around with him!

And as you can see, the poor kid didn't get any toys for Christmas...

As I was trying to set up all of his toys for the previous picture, I found him here....already in the middle of it all!

New Years

We had to bundle up the little man up for our New Year's Eve run.

 

He wouldn't leave his usual hat on, so we moved to this one.  Our friend little "B" let us borrow this one.  It goes over his neck and keeps him from pulling it off.  Thanks B!  If only we'd had a Santa hat like that!

 

This is us on New Year's Eve.  Ash and Kalum watched Little K, so we had a night out....had a great time with friends.
