I was determined to leave the hospital after a day (assuming that everyone was healthy). Since we were all healthy, I bothered every doctor who walked in the room about letting us leave. I guess my persistence worked, because we were able to leave the next day around 3:00. Ahhh, home sweet home!
Here is Mailee bundled up and ready to leave. She is wearing a special bonnet. The bonnet was given to my grandmother when my mother was born. My mother, sister, and I all wore it home from the hospital and carried it in our weddings. Kaiden carried it home with him from the hospital.
We decided to stop by Kaiden's school and pick him up so we were all coming home together. Mailee gave Kaiden a present---she must have been listening in the womb and known that he liked airplanes, because it was a package of 3 airplanes and a helicopter. Kaiden was excited about the baby being home, but he also loved the airplanes she gave him. He referred to them as "baby airplane." As he took them out of the package, he went and put them on her lap.
We told them he could take them and play with them. As he was playing with them, Mailee let out a little grunting noise. Kaiden immediately stopped was he was doing and went to check on her. He then brought the airplanes to her lap, one at a time. "Baby airplane," he said. He watched her for a long time after that to make sure she was still ok. Ahhhh, taking good care of her already!

Loves to hold his baby sister!
And always has sweet kisses for her forehead.
I love his expression in this one, he is so genuinely excited about her!
Love those tiny toes!!!
I forgot to take a picture of her with the bear as soon as we got home, but I got one at 5 days!
I'm beginning to think she may always have the "baby airplanes" on her lap. Kaiden doesn't like it when she cries--and if she does, he brings her the airplanes. I guess they are supposed to make it all better! There have been several times Kaiden brings all the airplanes to her, but this is the only other picture I've been able to catch. However, I'm pretty certain it will be a common sight.
