We spent a day with Rayan, Dips and Maya and Keukenhof, which is famous for the beautiful flowers. We've been there before, but it was very early in the season, so we didn't see the huge fields of tulips that you always see in pictures. I was excited to be there mid-season to hopefully see the famous field of tulips.
Rayan and Maya taking a rest.
We started the day in a little cafe there and a warm drink to prepare us for the chilly day. The kids had a great time running around and sitting by this club-house thing.
I wish I knew what was so funny!
Keukenhof is full of fun photo ops like this bridge. Lichar was the only one of us brave enough to walk it.
Having a little snack.
Playing with Maya.
Nice little picnic by the windmill.
Fresh stroopwafel...Y-U-M! Thanks Maya for sharing!
Ahhh, sweet kisses.
Eating stroopwafel in front of the windmill. How Dutch can we get?!?
These two had no problems venturing out on their own here.
Ok, another great photo op. We put both the kids in here.....wait, where's Maya?!? Oh, she's there...she thought the toe of the shoe was much more fun than posing for a picture--so she hung out hidden in the toe!
This is the only shot we got where she was even showing!
Can you see us up there?
Amstelveen Dillons
Houston Dillons
Just a nice shot of the windmill.
Walking, talking and enjoying the view.
We lined the kids up here at this scenic spot. We thought it was really pretty but didn't want to get everyone out of their strollers.
As we were taking pictures, this other family came by and said something about "ahhh, you need one more!" I thought he was kidding...but nope! He parked his kid next to ours and started snapping pictures. Weird!!! Sadly, this was one of many weird situations we encountered throughout the day. As we were walking around, we watched another random person stop filming the scenery and instead followed the kids with his camera as they ran by. Umm, weird!
I love how Kaiden is looking at this new kid like "Who the heck are you?!?" We felt the same way, Kaiden. :)
Just another pretty view...just before we got in trouble for being on the grass. Oops!
And what do you know, our random "friend" shows up again! Seriously, stop stalking us! ;)
We found a nice Nijntje playground for the kids. (Nijntje is a Dutch cartoon character.)
Although it appears that Kaiden is looking up Nijntje's skirt...
...I promise he is really just investigating a spider at her feet!
Here the kids enjoyed watching the swans.
And now, our other "weird" encounter. We were here trying to get shots of both kids in the wooden shoes. I was squatted down snapping pictures when this lady walked up by me and stood there waiting like, "Are you going to move?" I was confused because if she walked past me she could only get to the shoes (which were clearly occupied with our kids) or the water and swans. But I stood and let her pass. She walked quickly to the shoes, posed and smiled for someone standing behind me who snapped her picture (with OUR kids in the shoes), then quickly walked off. Uhhh, ok. I wish I'd had the presence of mind to catch a picture of her too, since she got one with my kid. I guess she just didn't want to wait for us to finish!
Oh well, even after all that, this was the best we could get. Clearly you can tell it was much more fun to beat on the shoes than stand and smile! :)
Yea, Maya finally posed for us!
Remember the huge field of tulips I was excited about seeing? Well, here it is. Hmmm, once again, no huge field of tulips. Disappointed.
Houston Dillon family photo.
Amstelveen Dillon family photo.
Looks likes he is picking tulips, but don't worry. His only interest was a stick on the ground.
Two tired kiddos.
Just nice scenery.
Mailee really liked looking at these flowers.
Great day in a beautiful place. :) Next post--some shots of the flowers.

Looks like you guys had a FUN day in spite of your weird photo "friends." I'm so glad that Maya and Kaiden had fun together.
