My friend Abby recently posted a blog in which she was instructed to post the sixth picture in the sixth file of your photo database. She had a very cute photo with an even better story, so I thought I'd participate as well. I'm sad to say that mine wasn't nearly as good, but it did bring back fun memories, so I thought I'd post it anyway.

I didn't cheat and look at the photos, but I did have to go to the 8th folder, because the 6th and 7th folders didn't have six pictures in them. So here is the 6th file in the 8th folder!

This is us worshiping B Alvin after the STS 118 launch. Here's the story...

In August 07, we made our first trek to Florida to watch the launch of STS 118--Endeavour. We were very excited about possibly viewing our first launch, and we knew some of the people on board. Several of our friends were going to view the launch as well, so we all thought it would be great if we rented a van and made the trek together. And it was really a blast!

NASA photo of the launch.

The 12 of us probably exchanged thousands of emails, discussed at numerous weekend gatherings, and even had one official "flight readiness meeting" planning for the trip. Someone in the group even took the flight patch and made our own version--which turned into t-shirts. It was an awesome trip full of laughs (even during the 17 hour 6 minute drive to Florida).

Here is the whole crew during the road trip.

And here we are just after lift-off.

It still made for a great story. Appears from my research of the tagged that it almost always ends up with a good story behind the picture even if you would have never thought the picture was "blog" worthy normally!!
