A day at the Farm

Since visiting Dewberry Farm last year, we decided it should be an annual trip.  This year we arranged to meet my friend Abby and her crew.  Unfortunately, our day started like this:

 

But after a nap on the way there and a little encouragement from Daddy and a cool horse, he started to warm up a bit.

Then he found stairs.  Who can resist stairs?!?

Problem was he had a little bit of competition.  Not that it bothered him mind you, but made it quite tricky for Daddy.

Then we found this.  Perfect.  Stairs and WAY less little feet to compete.  Let the fun begin!

He LOVED this slide!

Another big draw, "Aauter." (translation = water)

He really wanted to go get these geese.

And then he saw....

"Animals!"

And sometimes it was more fun to watch the other kids.

Great story about his hat.  We searched and searched and searched everywhere--at least THREE times.  So we settled for this one, just a little bit big, but it worked.  Found his hat a week later in the living room, sitting in plain sight.

The chicks were a big draw.

He also liked the horse.

But one of his favorites was....

...the singing chickens!

K loved playing on the playground.  Once again the "big" kids and crowds didn't slow him down one bit.

When we sat down to rest for a bit, Kaiden was playing around getting close to the camera.  I caught the following expressions... I try not to post 50 of the same pose, but I couldn't resist these!  How cute is this face?!?!

Then we went to watch E and B on the ball swing.

We also rode the barrel train.

E and B rode in front of us.

It was fun, but a bit too dusty for Mommy's liking.  I wish we had a picture that showed all the dust...

But finally they held his attention long enough to get a few shots.

There was no cute posing like last year, this kid was just interested in exploring.

He really wanted to pick this one up!

E and B did a great job posing though!

Our time in the pumpkin patch was short lived.  K just wanted to explore, but found it difficult in the tall grass and pumpkin vines.  Translation = he was getting grouchy!  So we made a brisk walk back to the hayride (pointing out all the "uukins" along the way)

We found some nice short grass where E, B and K had a great time playing.

We got a group shot, but of course the boys were more interested in the airplane going by!

This year they had a special building where you could go and look at all of their jack-o-lanters.  They were cool, but we enjoyed the outside activities more.

So we headed back to the trikes for one more ride before heading home.

I love his concentration in this one!
