Our plan is to leave Tuesday and head back to Houston. We bought a big ice chest and plan to stock it full of perishable food on our way home. We need to stock Ashley's refrigerator! From what we hear, grocery stores are open but only have non-perishable foods and only let small numbers of people in at a time. We'll also be sure to keep the gas tank as full as possible--plus we still have a 5 gallon can in the trunk.
Plan B is to make sure we always have enough gas to get to Abby's in El Campo where we know there is ample gas and fully stocked grocery stores.
We'll live with my sister until our house has electricity. In the mean time, we'll be cleaning up what we can and hopefully helping friends and others clean up as well. Most of our friends have been lucky as well, with minimal or no damage to the structures of their homes. We do know of at least one friend's house that was flooded with 3-4 feet (1 meter) of water.
My sister's house still does not have internet, so this may be my last post for a while. I'll be sure to update again as soon as we have internet! We are a little sad to leave our "cushy" life of luxury in Dallas, but very anxious to get back home and start the clean up/recovery process.
