The waiting game

We've learned that my school is closed for the week and since Lichar works on Galveston island, who knows when he will go back. Right now the island is still under evacuation orders and no one is being allowed on. My sister and her husband (being the rough, tough, outdoors-y type that they are) returned to find their apartment in good shape and they even have electricity!!!!! They live less than a mile from us, but we still don't have electricity.

We'd discussed going back (since we could stay with my sister Ashley), but after hearing that gas is in very short supply and that grocery stores only have non-pershables, we've decided we like the convenience of Dallas. In addition, there isn't too much we can do at the house for now. We can pick up some of the mess, but need to wait on insurance to proceed.

That's it for today, we'll re-evaluate tonight and make a decision for tomorrow!

I've heard the traffic on 45 (along with no gas) is terrible. So if you all want to come home via our house, your welcome to! It's only 4 ish hours and it is not the normal path to Houston...it might save you lots of sitting around. Just take 35 to waco then I can give you the back roads to Mayberry!!

I am so glad that your damage to the house wasn't worse. I have been looking at the blog every day to find out updates on y'all. I was very worried about you! Keep updating so that I can keep tabs on you! I hope you are feeling well and that you get home soon!
